Bind IP to different than public IP?

Now this is a pretty special question. For technical reasons the server cPanel is running on only has one public IP and the websites are hosted on private IPs which are NAT-ted to public ones. This system works but it breaks quite some stuff like SSL certificate issuance and automated DNS entries. Is there any way to set the public IP belonging to a private one or at least setting the IP that is entered into the DNS records when a subdomain is created?
