Question about MX Record

just want to know in depth about this but can not find the information ;) Where we can find exactly information about MX record that show name with "mail.domain1.com" i try to check with all new accounts inside DNS Zone record information at DNS Zone on the domain for example: domain1.com are like this below: ========================================== domain1.com. 14400 IN MX 10 domain1.com. ========================================== the MX record show information with domain1.com but not mail.domain1.com regards, Zurrie

  MX define where mail for a domain name goes. It has absolutely nothing to do with the mail subdomain off of a domain name. The mail subdomain is just commonly used to help people recognize that they are doing something involving mail with their domain name. This is similar to www being attached to a domain name in the early days of the Internet. The www let people know that they were accessing the World Wide Web, but it really never served any actual purpose. It's all used in context for readability and understanding.

  Hello @Zurrie, The information in the previous post is correct. The default MX record is configured to point to "domain.tld" because it's the domain that should resolve to the IP address of the cPanel server where both the domain and email is hosted. Thank you.
