Client tried to access nonexistent namespace. (Mailbox name should probably be prefixed with: INBOX)

In Mail's Preferences, go to Accounts, select the email account, switch to the Server Settings tab and click the Advanced IMAP Settings button. There the IMAP Path Prefix can be set to INBOX. 0 -
Thank you so much for your reply. Mail's Preferences ... where? I cannot find how to access Mail's Preferences. Thank you. 0 -
In your client's Mail app on their Mac. 0 -
Thank you so much indeed. I am going to try. Best regards. 0 -
Let us now if that resolves the issue, @kdean thanks for the insight! 0 -
It seems it is working now. Thank you so much indeed! Best regards, 0 -
I am having this exact same problem, but only on 3 out of the 4 new email addresses I have just set up. I am also using Apple Mail on a Mac.
I have checked and double checked the IMAP path prefix on all 4 accounts and they are all saying INBOX, yet three of the accounts display the "nonexistent namespace. (Mailbox name should probably be prefixed with: INBOX)" error whenever I try and send or delete a mail.
The fourth account seems to be working fine.
When I send a mail from the misbehaving accounts in Webmail, it works fine and the message shows up in the "sent" folder in my Apple mail client.
I am tearing my hair out, any ideas?

Steve Mulvey - other times when I have seen this in the past it has been due to bad permissions on the mail files in the account. Can you run this command on the system to see if that gets things working well?
/scripts/mailperm username
Just replace "username" with the username of the cPanel account.

Thanks for this reply. I've also raised a support ticket with the hosting people that I use (Krystal.uk) They seem very helpful. They have setup a temporary mail account alongside my ones, using the same settings as me, and they are having no trouble using it at all. So it is obviously something wrong with my setup.
I'll let you know what they say next.
I'm way out of my depth here, could you explain where I type that "/scripts..." command?

If you have to contact the host for this type of work, you won't be able to run that command. They'll be able to take care of things for you!
