(Ask) Change Webmail Logo
Answered-
Hello, It's definitely possible to do this. The documentation here should be helpful: Guide to cPanel Interface Customization - Custom Icons and Logos - Developer Documentation - cPanel Documentation 0 -

I already created the svg and png files, can I immediately replace the webmail-logo.svg file? the logo looks like this 0 -
[QUOTE] To add a custom logo for all of the accounts on the server, save the desired logo in the /var/cpanel/customizations/brand/ directory. - This action requires root-level permissions on the server.
- If this directory does not already exist, you must create it.
How do I copy the webmail.png file to this folder / var / cpanel / customizations / brand /? for the location of the folder / var / cpanel / customizations / brand / where do I want to look using the cpanel file manager? if I try to see it through the cpanel var / cpanel / styled / current_style file manager, I don't see any files, can I upload the files to this folder? thank you0 -
You wouldn't be able to make these changes using the file manager you'd need to do this via terminal/SSH on the server. 0 -

I've already added our company logo to the top left pane of cPanel which all customers see when they access cPanel. Now we want to add our company logo to our global Webmail login page that all our customers use to login to webmail with. Currently when you browse to the Webmail login page you see the orange "Webmail" logo. We want to change that to our company logo. Which instructions guide you with this task?

Amiga500 - you can use the Theme Manager tool to customize the logo for Webmail - more details can be found here - https://docs.cpanel.net/whm/themes/theme-manager/

I looked over those instructions and it was a little vague as far as adding a custom logo to the webmail login page. I found these instructions which seems to be more specific to adding a customer logo to the webmail login page. What do you think about these instructions?

Sure, those steps just outline how to clone and create a custom theme, and then you customize the logo with those steps. That'll work!

So, I cloned the cPanel Theme and named it "webmail-login". This new theme shows up under "Login Themes". Do I need to do anything else with this theme like install it under "Webmail/Manage Themes" or....? I ask because after I rename "$theme_name" to "webmail-login" and replace the webmail-logo.svg file with our custom webmail-logo.svg file how does the system know to use this path below for the webmail login page?
/usr/local/cpanel/base/unprotected/$theme_name/images/webmail-logo.svg
Also, if I didn't create a theme and just copied our custom webmail-logo.svg to:
/usr/local/cpanel/base/unprotected/themename/images/
Would that work also? Is this the path for the generic/default webmail login page?

While not directly related to your issue, I did file case CPANEL-46435 with our developers as the Clone and Download buttons are extremely tiny and hard to read.
As far as the webmail logo, I did not need to do any additional work in order to get this to appear. I just uploaded the file to
/usr/local/cpanel/base/unprotected/$theme_name/images/webmail-logo.svg
overwriting the one that was already there, and then it worked when I accessed webmail on the server.

CPANEL-46435 = Cool!
Also, I got our customer logo to work. I copied our custom webmail-logo.svg file to the same path as you mention above although I renamed "$theme_name" to the name of the theme that I had created and that worked. But it sounds like I didn't need to create a new theme but could have just copied the file to the default path you mentioned above.

It needs to be the cloned theme or else cPanel will just overwrite it as part of a future update.

Okay that all makes sense now! Thank you!

Sure thing!

Hi. I previously mentioned I got our custom webmail login logo to work. But...after a cPanel update the logo was reverted back to the default logo. You mentioned "It needs to be the cloned theme or else cPanel will just overwrite it as part of a future update."
Under Theme Manager/Login/Manage Themes, I did create a clone and named it "Webmail-Login", but I don't think I did anything else with it after that. I just ended up just copying our webmail.svg file to the proper path and everything worked. But how does a theme tie into this and prevent the logo from being overwritten? How does the webmail.svg file tie into the webmail-login theme I created, by copying the file into that path which is the path that was created when I created the clone theme?
I was told this....
"https://stackoverflow.com/questions/31044154/how-to-stop-cpanel-upgrades-over-writing-my-custom-exim-conf-file' regarding this. It appears that according to cPanel nothing can be done to stop cPanel updates from overwriting the custom webmail logo.
Due to this, after a cPanel update, the steps you previously took to set the custom webmail logo will need to be completed after any cPanel update to set the custom logo back.
As this is something specific with how cPanel is setup/coded, you would need to reach out to cPanel to inquire if this is available or to make this a feature request."
Is there anything I can do, a step I missed to prevent our custom webmail login page logo from being overwritten every time a cPanel update comes out?
Please advise. Thank you!

Creating the custom theme is what allows the file to stay in place. If you edit the main theme and not the custom theme, updates will overwrite the changes.
I would say if that isn't working as expected at this point it's time to create a ticket.

I cloned the theme, then I added our customer webmail.svg file to the path /usr/local/cpanel/base/unprotected/themename/images/
was that it? If so, then it's not retaining our custom logo. Should I create a ticket?

That should be all that needs to happen. I'd make that ticket and we can check it out!

It was suggested that I open a feature request but this sounds more like a tech support ticket? I'm not able to open a cPanel tech support ticket due to our server being hosted by a third party. We manage the server but.... Anyway, it gave me a warning when I entered our server's IP. I thought I had open a cPanel tech support ticket before but....

If your license isn't purchased directly from cPanel you'd need to speak to your license provider for support, and they they'll escalate the issue to us directly if they can't solve it.
