HTTP 500 Error
Hi everyone,
First of all, I am a complete n00b so please bear with me.
Since Friday our website (built in Wordpress) cannot be reached anymore. I get a HTTP 500 Error so as far as I understand, it has do do with the server.
I tried issuing a support ticket but cannot log into the ticketing system with my CPanel user account. :(
I had a look at older threads and here are the random things I checked so far:
- I checked Metrics>error messages but there isn't anything there.
- Our SSL certificate (and the DV certificate?) is expired, however, it has been for over a year as far as I can tell.
- I tried accessing the page via IPaddress:2083 but get a security warning so I didn't proceed.

Have you checked the error_log in account directory? Try changing the php version of the website from cpanel. 0 -

Thanks for the suggestions. After some more investigation, the reason for the issue seems to be malware. Probably thanks to a plugin that wasn't up-to-date. :confused:0 -

You can proceed. This warning is "only" to tell you that the SSL certificate is not valid or has expired, like you said.0 -
Have you considered temporarily replacing your public_html/index file with a basic index.html Here's a web site

You can also try creating a basic phpinfo page 0 -

Were you able to get this resolved after removing the plugin and resolving the malware issue?0
