  Yep and actually that's the recommended one over suphp. Probably cPanel develop their package internally though.

  It is still supported, and indeed recommended over suPHP but personally I don't use it in favor of mod_lsapi You can see supported handlers here: PHP Handlers | cPanel & WHM Documentation
