Bluehost won't allow a full cpanel backup
Doing some work for a client, who wishes to move from Bluehost to a VPS.
Bluehost no longer allows backups from cpanel, and the "WHM Home " Transfers " Copy an Account From Another Server With an Account Password" doesn't work because they appear to have purposely broken it on the sender's end.
Bluehost support refuses to create a backup other than a zip file for the home directory.
Is my only other option to move all the files and databases manually, and then export and re-import all the mailboxes?
Please advise.

I guess it depends really on how many domains you wish to move and how many email addresses etc. A few years back I performed something very similar, moving from a rubbish host to my own dedicated server. I had about 8 domains to transfer. All my email users were on POP3, so there was no email data to migrate. All I had to do was recreate the email accounts on the new server. Copied the public_html folder over. Perfom a dummy run on copying the database etc. I did each domain manually. It wasn't actually that difficult as most of the work could be done in parallel, leaving the real database migration until 5 minutes before updating the nameserver changes. 0 -
There is a command line tool called imapsync that I believe is in epel that you can use to copy the email boxes over. Yes it's still one by one. But it's an option. 0 -
We do have some tutorials on imapsync available, here in the forums But I do have feel the need to say that this is a horrible practice for end users, in the event you want to keep your own backup of your site 0
