Help choosing how to manage mail on my server
Hi,
Sometimes my server IP is blacklisted and i it can be frustating to remove and i get paranoid !
i want to manage better this situation.
Actually i send all mails from all account from 1 MAIN IP Address.
This configuration is good with spf+dkim and rDNS.I think it is normal sometimes with a shared server....
To resolve this my first idea is to buy more IPs and split users inside them......
Is it an hard work?
Or i am considering to use smarthost service with qualified support ( someone know a good company working with cpanel?)
Any other good advice?
thank you very much

Hi @leonep, In short, it's too much work, I think. You should consider an affordable mail relay service such as SMTP2GO. 0 -
It would also be a good idea to confirm the server isn't actually sending spam when this happens, especially if this is a shared server. A user could knowingly or unknowingly have a script sending out mass emails that needs to get taken care of before you could request delisting. If you need to check the server for spam activity the following article might be helpful for that work if you don't already have some tools in place for that: 0 -
I'd add that it's a good idea to limit the amount of emails that the server can relay after you have set it up, too. I'd highly recommend Imunify for malware detection and prevention. 0 -
i am ok with config. the problem is the customers !!! a lot of webistes with no captcha ... mails send with no sense.. 0 -
Assuming you have root access to the server, do you have hourly limits in place? Have you looked at something like OSM ( Outgoing Spam Monitor (osm) ). 0 -
@leonep - that's always the battle - the balance between usability and security. 0 -
We use OSM and I'd say it works nice. We had it just 'alert' (email) us for about the first month that we used it. That helped us identify customers that send newsletters etc. After that we have it simply hold email in the outbound queue when it exceeds our thresholds. If it's legit, we release it and if not, we take care of it. We don't use their support much, so I can't comment on that. 0
