Hi @leonep, In short, it's too much work, I think. You should consider an affordable mail relay service such as SMTP2GO.

It would also be a good idea to confirm the server isn't actually sending spam when this happens, especially if this is a shared server. A user could knowingly or unknowingly have a script sending out mass emails that needs to get taken care of before you could request delisting. If you need to check the server for spam activity the following article might be helpful for that work if you don't already have some tools in place for that:

I'd add that it's a good idea to limit the amount of emails that the server can relay after you have set it up, too. I'd highly recommend Imunify for malware detection and prevention.

Assuming you have root access to the server, do you have hourly limits in place? Have you looked at something like OSM ( Outgoing Spam Monitor (osm) ).

@leonep - that's always the battle - the balance between usability and security.

We use OSM and I'd say it works nice. We had it just 'alert' (email) us for about the first month that we used it. That helped us identify customers that send newsletters etc. After that we have it simply hold email in the outbound queue when it exceeds our thresholds. If it's legit, we release it and if not, we take care of it. We don't use their support much, so I can't comment on that.
