Does autossl work for DNS-Only servers?
Hello,
We have several DNS-Only nameservers (ns1/ns2/ns3). When I go into the Service Configuration " Manage Service SSL Certificates screen, it appears that the free ssl certificates offered by cpanel are not available. I can only generate a self-signed certificate, which gives a lock error in the browser.
Is it possible to use the autossl for the server hostname so I can access WHM without ssl warnings?

Hello, AutoSSL does not work on DNS only servers, however, are eligible for free hostname certificates through the cPanel store. Can you try running the checkallsslcerts command? /usr/local/cpanel/bin/checkallsslcerts
This script is the one that handles the installation of the hostname certificates and should either order the certificate or let you know why it can't be ordered.0 -
This works - Thanks.. thou its baffling that its not automatic. 0 -
@slim - are you not seeing the hostname certificate installed on the DNSOnly machine automatically? It can take up to 24 hours before that is issued. 0 -
After running this command and waiting for the store to issue the ssl cert, yep it"s working. inwas previously running my own wild card ssl certificate on my dns only servers, but it was due to expire and didn"t want to pay to renew it, so I removed it and could see no way to get autossl to do its thing. Would it have done it overnight by itself if I hadn"t run that command? 0 -
The hostname certificate would have only been automatically generated if you removed the wildcard certificate. It will not overwrite existing certificates, even if they are expired. 0
