  There's a lot of reasons that a backup could fail. It's best to search through the backup logs in /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup/ for key words like "error" or "warn" to see if you can find the specific reason. This could be file permissions keeping certain areas from being backed up, processes being killed, or other reasons.
