cPanel backup restored on another web host panel
Hello,
I have my full cPanel backup from the shared hosting account of hostgator and now I have decided to switch to VPS on another hosting. On my VPS (CentOS 7 +LAMP+CyberPanel); I have restored my full cPanel backup via CyberPanel Python script successfully.
I need to know:
1. Unnecessary files and folder/dir of cPanel?
2. How to locate them?
3. How to delete them?
I am asking that because on my VPS, cPanel restored can take much more spaces than actual website contents and databases as well it is creating problems with DNS-Records.
For some domains, it shows the previous (hostgator) DNS-Records.
I need to locate & delete all that unnecessary files/folders of my cPanel backups at my new VPS.
Thanks

Hey there! There wouldn't be any unnecessary files that would be restored with that type of backup restoration. I would expect that you need to adjust the DNS records after the restore has completed, which you can do from within the cPanel interface. Are you not able to use the interface to adjust the DNS? 0 -
Hello @cPRex , I have adjusted my DNS Records through CyberPanel DNS server interface but I have seen that my website contents size shown much more than the actual e.g. my website contents size is not more than 200MB but when I am going to: File Manager> /public_html/mydomain.com > Select All>Compress then the compressed .zip folder size shows more than 1.5GB. How could this possible? Here is my previous hosting details: cPanel Version 86.0 (build 24) Apache Version 2.4.43 PHP Version 5.6.40 MySQL Version 5.6.41-84.1 Architecture x86_64 Operating System linux Shared IP Address 192.185.61.219 Path to Sendmail /usr/sbin/sendmail Path to Perl /usr/bin/perl Perl Version 5.10.1 Kernel Version 4.14.135-214.ELK.el6.x86_64 At present I am using CyberPanel using OLS (Open Lite Speed) for my VPS. This seems like a question for CyberPanel, not cPanel (if I read your post correctly). I doubt that anyone at cPanel knows how CyberPanel read and restores a cPanel backup. 0 -
@ffeingol is correct - we aren't going to have any knowledge of the DNS or how CyberPanel handles that. I can only say what is taken in the backup file on cPanel systems, but I can't say how they handle that restore process. 0
