Why do only some email forwarders work?

Hey there! That definitely isn't expected behavior, as any number of forwarders you create should all work the same. Do you see any specific errors if you check the /var/log/exim_mainlog file on the server when sending a test message to one of those forwarders? That log file would show the entire mail transaction, including the forwarder being used, so that's the first place I would check for information about this.

Hey Rex, thanks for your help. Unfortunately I'm on a shared cpanel so I don't think I can access the "/var/" directory. I certainly can't see it. Is there another way to check?

There isn't another way to see the entire mail transaction. It would be best to speak with the hosting provider or datacenter to have them check the logs on their end and see if they can get more details about what may be happening.

Unfortunately I have a very non-responsive host with minimal offshore support etc. So I doubt I'll be able to access the files needed to really solve this. I've never encountered anything like this before. I have 7 forwarders setup, 3 work as expected, 4 don't (no such user here). It would make sense if none worked, but having only a few work is really frustrating. Might have to migrate my email away from this server I suppose.

Okay, SOLVED! Said non-responsive host decided to upgrade their servers it seems! A notice would have been nice... :/

I'm glad they were able to get that working, although I would expect better communication from them for sure.
