Softaculous App Installer
Recently a customer of mine purchased a VPS package from a web host. In the purchase screen he did not select to include Softaculous, yet it was installed. When he asked the web host about this, they said cPanel comes with a free version of Softaculous. Is this true? Is there a way for the web host to sell cPanel without Softaculous installed?

Softaculous does not come as part of cPanel. That particular hosts "image" that they created/used to deploy VPS's may include Softaculous. There is a free version of Softaculous that has 39 scripts, while the paid has 419: Softaculous Auto Installer 0 -

This is what the web host is indicating, that cPanel bundles the free version of Softaculous and implying there's no way for them to sell cPanel without this free version of Softaculous installed. My question is, is this correct?0 -
cPanel itself does not include or have any relationship with Softaculous. Your hosting provider might have an image where that is included, but it's not standard in the cPanel product. 0 -
