CPANEL-36156 - Transfer or Restore An Existing cPanel Account
When you have a machine that has only 5 accounts in it with an equivalent license and need to restore an account from a backup, this issue becomes an issue:
[QUOTE]
Warning: Your system"s license allows up to 5 users, but there are already 5 users. You must upgrade your license or terminate a user account before you can create a new account.
Why can't we use the "Upload a file to restore" function and overwrite an existing account and not adding a new one? If you select this option, then the option "Overwrite if the cPanel user already exists" will be grayed out. Granted, it might be better to use that when there is an archive file that exists in /home, /usr, etc, but there are situations (often the case) when the file exists outside and have been downloaded to a local machine. It is just easier to use the UI than moving the file to the machine first before using the Restoration tool. Not sure what the logic behind this is but it should be able to detect if the account exists after the upload before deciding to stop the process if it is not. Thanks.

Hey there! Are you using the "Restore a full backup/cpmove" file interface when you get this error? If you can get me specific details on how you're experiencing the issue I'm happy to reproduce and do some testing on my end. 0 -
Hi cPRex Really sorry for the delayed response. You can use the Admin license, download one of the accounts and then try to upload/overwrite it using Home " Transfers " Transfer or Restore a cPanel Account " Upload a file to restore. Thank you. 0 -
Thanks, cPRex. 0 -
