Can't download files, download button gray. Help please

Hi everybody, I'm in a sticky situation. Frank Dowd, owner operator of Home has died. He was a lone operation and my SMF forum is on his server. Here's what I'm running into, I can get into c-panel but cannot transfer files using FTP or download files from the file manager. The FTP connection connects but times out when trying to load the directory. When I choose the folder or files in file manager the download button doesn't change color...stays gray and doesn't work. Anybody have any ideas? Is there any other way to get my files or am I screwed?

  Hey there! I'm sorry to hear about that situation. With only cPanel access to the account you options are limited without FTP access, as that sounds like a firewall issue on the server side, and with File Manager broken. Do you see any of the Backups or Backup Wizard option in the main cPanel interface? That would allow you to create a backup and then download that to your local system.

  I do not....only Backup Exclude, that's why I'm here. Isn't this your software? Cpanel?

  For sure that is us! While we do provide the software, we don't have any affiliation with the hosting plan you have, and without a higher level of access to the machine we wouldn't be able to help fix those issues. With the backup options missing it sounds like your cPanel plan was even further limited than the defaults, so there may not be much you can do on your end if you don't have any other contacts for that system.
