This means that probably one of the account you are trying to transfer have a dedicated IP address on the source server while on the destination server you don't have any free IP address available. You can simply choose deselect dedicated IP at the bottom and proceed with the transfer.

Thanks Andrew. However there is no option to deselect dedicated IP address at the bottom. I am a little unsure what to expect from this process although it's all mostly fairly straightforward. But why does the IP address on the destination machine not count as an IP address for the transfer tool ? thanks

Are you transferring one account or multiple? Are you using the cPanel username/pass or the root details?

just one cPanel account. cPanel on the new machine was installed by my hosting provider. Until now, I've just imagined it was a matter of transferring all the files and settings from the old to the new, and then updating the DNS records to use the IP address of the new server. I'm beginning to suspect that this is not so.

and yes, it is the cPanel account credentials. I thought it might be because I had added a dns record to point to the domain to the new IP address so I deleted it. no effect.

Do you have root access? Are you able to use the root details of the source server to transfer the account instead of the account's details?

I've just gone ahead with the transfer and see how it turns out. so far there is this Starting "RESTORE" for "GreyList" "GreyList". Failed: (XID s89fpa) The WHM API v1 call "cpgreylist_trust_entries_for_common_mail_provider" failed: The system failed to trust any IP addresses.

Hello @accafella , That message may not be an issue, moving forward. It's something to note, should you see odd behavior related to greylisting, but should not affect the accounts migrations.

Hi @cPDavidL and thanks, yep that's not a major concern but this is .. Starting "RESTORE" for "MySQL" "Database Server". Failed: Restore Failed
Apart from the rest of the Transfer seeming to be a success, do you think this fail may have been partly due to the original database having been converted from mysql 5.7 to version 8 in order to complete the transfer and a detail was left off ? Anyway, the Transfer Tool acknowledged this and helpfully put all the db dumps in a directory from which I could rebuild the database for our wordpress site. However ... Now I am getting the wordpress "error connecting to database" in spite of ensuring that all of the credentials correspond and passwords changed to meet mysql 8 authentication standards I updated to php7.3 in with easyApache thinking it might work better with mysql8. now I am getting : "Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress." I updated to php7.4 and now there are no db errors but the page is blank and a file with the name of my domain is downloaded with a partial php file for the wordpress theme loader. I know this is shifting a little away from cPanel support but any suggestions you might have would be enormously appreciated because now I am thoroughly confused and have, for the moment, no idea how to formulate a google query to investigate this. thanks, Steve.

It would be good to know why there was an issue with MySQL during the transfer, as anything related to the database should be treated suspiciously until that is resolved. If you have root access to the Source machine, are you able to successfully dump that database?

Hey, thanks for getting back to me. Yes, in the end I did a dump of the original database on the source machine and reconstituted wordpress with that. Works perfectly now. As to why the db transfer failed, it could have been a number of innocuous issues - my inexperience with the Transfer Tool not least. The mysql 8 builds may have been slightly different too ... In any case, If anything, I should have acted on my suspicions surrounding the integrity of the data in the directory cpmove_failed_mysql_dbs before thinking rebuilding the website with it would be trouble free. Thanks again.
