Validation for SFTP Destination fail
Trying to add an SFTP location to WHM for backup, but when it validates, I get the error: " Error: Validation for transport "hkhost" failed: Could not delete the file we had uploaded onto the server: Couldn't delete remote file: No such file"..
Logging in with FTP software to the backup server using the same credentials has no problems seeing the new folder created by the validation as well as the temp file uploaded by the validation. The FTP software has no problems deleting the temp file... The backup server is a Synology NAS..
Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Hey there! Generally when we see issues like this, it's best to try temporarily disabling the firewall on the server to see if that helps things work normally. We have seen some odd issues with various NAS-type storages in the past, so if disabling the firewall doesn't change the behavior it may be worth submitting a ticket to our team so we can do some direct troubleshooting with this. 0 -
Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately, disabling the firewall didn't make any difference.. Due to the sensitive nature of the data, I can't allow outside access to the server, so I've decided to just use rsync for each individual domain and to use WHM to backup just the system only without accounts, then rsync that backup to the external server. In any case, from what I read about the restoration procedure with WHM, I'll have to manually move the entire backup to the local drive on the server before I can do a restore... The drive size on the server isn't that big, and will probably fill up to the point where I won't be able to do that if I need to restore anything.. --edit-- Doing a search for how to reinstall WHM system backups seem to be that everything needs to be done manually... In that case, if the server crashes badly and needs a new disk, this will mean basically just reinstalling the OS, then WHM/cPanel from scratch, then manually extracting the files from the WHM system backup and overwriting the new files... correct? For my backup without selecting any accounts, does the WHM system backup include all the domains and accounts configuration already setup in cPanel or will I have to manually create those as well? 0 -

The system backup will still function even if no accounts are selected. It would not include the data necessary to recreate the cPanel accounts though, as you'd need to have the accounts backed up for that to function, or plan on manually recreating the accounts/emails/ftp users/etc..0 -

Wish you guys had an option just to backup the system files and account setup info like emails, ftp, etc.. without the actual data/html files in the account... Makes the backup file too big and cumbersome... Setting up rsync to backup data files for each individual domain is much easier...0 -
