/backup on digital ocean volume - possible?
Hi All,
I am currently backing up (incremental) to a D.O. volume and the "workspace" is /backup
My issue is /backup is taking a LOT of my limited disk space
Can anyone see any issues with changing the work directory(s) from /backup to the D.O. volume?
And... will I be able to restore from that D.O. volume?
Example: Current:
Default Backup Directory: /backup
Backup Staging Directory: /backup
change to:
Default Backup Directory: /mnt/volume_nyc3_04/backup
Backup Staging Directory: /mnt/volume_nyc3_04/backup
Final back destination is /mnt/volume_nyc3_04
Thanks!
Steve

Yes. You can format an external storage area as ext4 or xfs, mount it to a folder and make backups to this area by editing the backup settings. 0 -
As long as cPanel can read and write to it normally, I'd expect it to work fine as @vacancy said. 0 -
Hey - good news - since it is mounted as a standard drive everything seems to be running great. Follow up question on retention... Can i use just daily backups with a retention of say 5. That would give me 7x5 retained (incremental) backups to restore from - correct? Thanks! 0 -
If you set the retention setting in daily backup to 5, a historical backup of 5 days is stored. The oldest 6th day backup is deleted. 0
