Hey there! Google has some details on how this can be configured on their end here:

The MX records are the issue - they need to be set to point to Google, but then all email will get delivered there. There isn't a supported method for that type of split delivery outside of using the noted Google tools. Reaching out to their support might be easier than trying to work through their docs.

Hello everyone, After spending 3/4 hours chating with google support I get the idea the problem is not solved. I was instructed on some steps (most os them already taken by me) and ended up setting up an SMTP relay. Google suporter requested me 24h to wait for the changes to propagate... but I have a feeling that the problem will remain the same. At this stage I have some accounts on Google Suite and other accounts on CPanel. There's no foward setup for the emails. GS Emails registered on GS and CPanel users registered on CPanel. GS users receives and send email to any email address. CPanel user are able to send but do not receive emails. The senders receives an error message: 550 Please turn on SMTP Authentication in your mail client.

It's typical that you need to wait 24 hours or so for DNS changes to propagate around the internet, so that's not out of the normal for them to request that. It may be best to do that and see if the behavior changes.

Hi. I am also interested in knowing if there is a solution for this as one of my customers is asking me the same. For now, Do you know if creating a subdomain can handle emails from cpanel instead of google? I mean, if a create a subdomain in cPanel, Could I set a different MX for that sub domain only? Thanks for you inputs.

@Secmas - sure, a subdomain can have a unique MX record configured, so that would be an easy option to get this working.

So, it seems this will work: 1. Create a subdomain in cPanel. 2. Create the new accounts using the subdomain in cPanel. 3. If you just want to use the main domain for all the emals including the new subdomain, create redirections in Google Workspace to the new subdomain emails created in cPanel. Read:

That should be done on your Mail Software, see the attached image using ThunderBird, but that will give you the idea. Sergio

Hello Secmas. Thanks for your answer. After I asked the question, I started researching the best options, really this is an option that will probably work for us. In my opinion it's not the best, but it works.

I know, it is not the best, but the customers will save money using it :)

Hi! I am having the same issue, I have all the emails in cPanel, however, I recently migrated one email to Google workspace and it is not receiving/sending emails since I have not updated the Mx to avoid the rest in cPanel having issues. Is there a way I can keep both under the same domain or do I need to create new emails with a subdomain? Any guidance or advice you can share to fix this please!

@cKatherine - you don't have one domain pointing to two different places for email as the DNS system just doesn't allow for that. If you want split up a certain portion, a subdomain is still the best option.

Hello @cKatherine You need to do exactly what is in answer 10 of this post. This way you will be able to adjust the routings. Remember to make the adjustments as described in topic 12. If you need more help, just call.
