Wordpress site building while DNS points to another host?

Apologies if this in the wrong section, feel free to move it admin. I have a website built on a basic WIX platform, I have a new server with cpanel and Wordpress installed, I am wondering how to build the new website, while keeping the WIX site live, then when finished the Wordpress site, point the DNS to it? Is this possible? Thanks in advance.

  Hey there! That's definitely possible. You'll need to route your local DNS to the correct server using your hosts file in order to trick the browser into thinking your development site is live. Details on that can be found here:

  If you have access to cPanel, it would be best to check the Errors page to see if that gives you more details. If not, you'll need to work with your host to see what the cause of the 404 error is, as they would have access to the Apache logs on the machine.
