DNS only Server upgrade

I have an independent DNS cluster setup to connect to other hosts The cluster consists of two DNS-only hosts Due to the long establishment time The operating system version used is CentOS 5 Upgrade is not currently supported The old DNS server runs CentOS 5 + WHM 56 The new DNS server runs CentOS 7 + WHM 96.0.8 Is there an upgrade plan that can be used as a reference?

  upgrade plan for? CentOS 5 is no longer supported and it is not possible to upgrade from CentOS 5.

  DNSOnly servers don't really get updated - you would add a new DNSOnly server into your cluster and remove the old one.

  I know that it is not possible to upgrade directly from CentOS or WHM The problem is that the current version is too different Therefore, it is not possible to directly add new DNS only hosts to the existing cluster What I want to ask is whether it is possible to directly copy the existing settings to a cluster with a new version of DNS only and directly replace the old cluster

  Not sure if we speak about the same, but for DNSONLY servers, there shouldn't really be that much custom settings. As @cPRex suggests, it's basically just creating a new DNSONLY server based on newer OS, do basic configuration + maybe firewall installation and then add it to your DNS cluster. All DNS configuration and zones will automatically get applied to the new server.

  Thanks for your reply I will try what to do Another question I copied the /var/named file of DNS1 to DNS2 If I don't want DNS2 reboot, can I restart related services to reload the zone file?

  That might/should work, yes - if you don't use DNSSEC - but why do you want to copy this over manually when cPanel handles it for you automatically? ;)

  I also wouldn't recommend trying to copy over /var/named. That won't move the /etc/named.conf file, so there could be odd behavior from that server. With a new DNSOnly server created, all the zones would re-sync to that new system, so no "migration" work has to be performed.
