Rejected relay attempt for a new email address
Hey all,
I have a weird problem for a freshly created account/email. Whenever someone tries to send an e-mail to that inbox exim says
Rejected relay attempt 'IPADDR' From: 'someone@something.net' To: 'newlycreated@email.com'
I've checked everything I could but didn't find what is causing the problem. Since exim is mentioning RELAY, it looks like it's trying to relay the message somewhere, even though for that account email routing is set to LOCAL, and the MX for the domain is also pointing to cPanel. I've checked for domain entry in /etc/localdomains and the domain is there (also rebooted exim just incase).
When I issue exim -bt email it says:
router = virtual_user, transport = dovecot_virtual_delivery_no_batch, which should be fine.
Why is it trying to relay the message I'm not really sure. If anyone could shed some light on this matter I would really appreciate it as I exhausted every idea and searched above and beyond but found nothing that could solve this problem.

Hey there! That's definitely odd, and you've checked all the common things I can think of. Do you see anything listed in /etc/relayhosts on the server? 0 -
Hey, thanks for the fast reply ! In the /etc/relayhosts I see 3 different IP addresses. Should that worry me? If I recall that file is automatically generated by exim. 0 -
The file is automatically generated, but now that I think about this more, that should not be related anyway if you're sending from Webmail local to the server. It might be best to open a ticket with our support team so we can examine the system directly. If you do open a ticket, please post the number here so I can follow along. 0
