Backup to google drive fails after one week
I setup my account to backup up non system files to Google Drive following this tutorial () but did not find the option to set the "User Type to Internal" in the Google project as mentioned. I have a normal Google account, not a Google Workspace. Is it possible to make backups to Google drive with a normal Google account without the validation expiring all the time? Thanks in advance.

Hey there! I've had a number of standard Google account users setup backups - the Workspace account is not required. Can you let me know the specific error you get with the backups? 0 -
Thanks for your reply! It stops working after one week of daily backups. When I go to WHM and try to validate again I receive this message: Could not create path directory "/SILOBackUp/": Token refresh failed at /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/perl/532/lib/perl5/cpanel_lib/OAuth/Cmdline.pm line 83 SILOBackUp is the directory being used so far, it is still there with all the backups and there is plenty of memory in Google Drive, so that shouldn't be an issue. 0 -
Thanks for that error message. Can you try these steps to see if that gets things working? 1. Browse to WHM >> Backup >> Backup Configuration. 2. Click the Edit link on the Google Drive destination and then click on the Generate Credentials link visible below the Client Secret field. 3. This will pop-up (ensure pop-ups are not blocked by your browser for this page) Google's authentication page where you will follow the steps to authenticate there. 4. After generating the credentials through Google, you should be able to validate the destination properly. 0 -
That works only when I first create the setup (google project + credentials), now it is not popping up any window and validation doesn't work. Any other suggestion? 0 -
I would still expect the "Edit" area to work well even though it has already been configured once. Can you make sure that popups are allowed on that page and that something isn't blocking that from appearing? If that doesn't help, it might be best to open a ticket with our team so we can do some more testing on this. 0 -
Pop-up is allowed. I will open a ticket, thanks for your help 0 -

Great, I will try that, thanks!0 -
@mrogozin - if you do open a ticket, please post the number here so I can follow along and make sure this thread stays updated. 0 -
I did open the ticket id #94341447, but they did not help much. As soon as I can (probably over the weekend) I will update the server as anoopk350 suggested and see if it works 0 -
It looks like they are seeing the same things in other tickets as I found, which was that this is typically a networking problem of some sort. Is your cPanel server not running version 96? If not, then an update is definitely recommended. 0 -
I am running v96.0.11, but there are kernel and software updates available, but I can only reboot the server over the weekend, I will let you know if it works. 0 -
After 1 week of successful backups it stoped again and I cannot "generate credentials", so the update didn't work. I will try to write to Google, if you have any other hints please let me know 0 -
Update your cpanel version to latest. it will solve automatically. 0 -
I just did that but it also failed. I am running CENTOS 7.9 kvm v96.0.11 Now it says that version 96.0.13 is available, is that the update you are mentioning? 0 -
I have the exact same issue as @mrogozin. After reading the solution provided by mrogozin in August last year, I removed my previous Google Drive setup from the Additional Destinations tab in WHM Backups, created brand new credentials in Google Cloud Console and set up Google Drive as the Additional Destination again from scratch. This time I ensured that I had set the app in Google Cloud Console to 'In Production' rather than 'In testing'. But in relation to the advice to have the app verified as well, Google Cloud Console told me 'Verification not required' under the 'Verification Status' heading, so I assumed that this meant it was not required. See screenshot attached. Once again, this worked perfectly for one week, but then stopped working again. I have looked through the Google Console documentation and cannot see a way to verify the app when it says 'Verification not required'. And there is no way to request any support from Google. Can anyone tell me please how they got this working " is there a step that I am missing with verifying the app in Google Cloud Console? 0
