  Could you check the firewall for blocking 127.0.0.1 or Your Public IP? Sometimes, when a Lot of requests are made internally, Firewall blocks it and it happened with me also...

  thanks, IP not bloqued, ALL connection possible: domains, FTP, SHELL, HTTP, etc...

  @000 - I'm not sure I understand your initial post. An echo statement wouldn't need to connect to anything, so can you let me know what command is causing the timeout to happen?
