Thanks for joining the cPanel Community Forums and Welcome! To provide the best experience for everyone, and get the most out of your post or thread, we have some guidelines and information we'd like to share with you.

General Guidelines

When Should I open a new thread?

• The community forums are best for non-emergency issues. If you are experiencing an urgent issue or want technical analysts to log in to your server to investigate an issue, please visit cPanel Customer Portal, for more information on how to proceed with opening a ticket. 
• If you've looked through our documentation, support knowledgebase, and the Community Forums and you're unable to find an answer to your question, then please ask away!
  
  
  • Some users find that using the "site:forums.cpanel.net" entry in a Google search is more convenient.

What should I include in my Forums Thread or Post?

• As many details on the issue as possible.
• Detailed replication steps
• Relevant log output
• The version of cPanel & WHM you're using (how to find this is explained below)
• The OS you're running (also explained below if you're unsure how to find this)
• Enclose all log output and commands within CODE BLOCKS
  • you can click the > button on the toolbar to add a code block
• Whether or not you are already seeking support through another method.
  • Post ticket numbers if you opened a support ticket with us
  • provide links to any other forums you are seeking assistance from (e.g. CloudLinux, LiteSpeed).
• If you resolve the issue PLEASE update the thread with the steps you took to do so, this helps others who see it later.
• Screenshots/images should be directly attached to the post.

What should I leave out of my Forums Thread or Post?

• Personally-Identifying Information - Not only do you want to avoid becoming the target of an attack or a spammer, but it also helps to keep your thread out of our moderation queue (links to domain names can flag a post as potential SPAM). This Includes:
  • Your actual domain name
  • IP addresses
    • it does help to know if it's a local/remote IP in the output and private or public
  • Email Addresses
• Links to outside sources
  • Links go bad for a lot of reasons - if the site you're linking to shuts down, the link expires (image servers usually) or changes formats so we discourage the use of links to outside sources, including those from image servers.
• Please don't include full logs or unrelated log output
• Passwords of ANY kind
• Ads, employment offers, site promotion
• Intentionally misleading or damaging information
• Posting of an unrelated topic within a forum thread (e.g. requesting support for the latest MySQL in a thread discussing enhancement of the disk quota system as it pertains to databases).

Where do I find My OS information and cPanel & WHM version?

• For cPanel & WHM Version
  • Command Line: 
    

    /usr/local/cpanel/bin/whmapi1 version

  • From WHM: This is listed on the top right-hand side of the interface next to Load Averages From cPanel: Go to the right-hand side General Information sidebar -> click Server Information -> cPanel Version
• For Operating System and Version?
  • Command Line

    : /usr/local/cpanel/bin/whmapi1 installed_versions packages=0 | grep operating_system

  • From WHM: This is listed on the top right-hand side of the interface near Load Averages and the displayed cPanel & WHM Version number From cPanel: Go to the right-hand side General Information sidebar -> click Server Information -> Operating System
• Get all of the above at once:

  /usr/local/cpanel/bin/whmapi1 installed_versions packages=0 | egrep 'operating_system|cpanel_and_whm'

How do I....

• Q: Delete my account?
• A: Currently, account deletion cannot be done through the forums but you can request it by opening a ticket with us.

Conduct/Do's and Don'ts These forums exist as an active resource for the community of cPanel software users. Please be considerate and maintain professionalism while posting to these forums. Here are some examples of conduct that is considered inappropriate by the forum community and could result in being banned.

• Belittling or insulting another user
• Posting of obscene or pornographic material
• Posting of libelous, defamatory, or illegal content
• Repeatedly making multiple posts regarding a single issue
• Posting intentionally misleading or damaging information
• Posting ads, employment offers, or links for site promotion

Be mindful that any information posted to these forums is considered open for use by any visitor to these forums. Therefore, do not post any information within these forums that cannot be reproduced without consent.

Forum rules are enforced at the discretion of cPanel and the moderators of these forums. By using these forums, you agree to these guidelines and our terms and rules. cPanel reserves the right to change these guidelines, the content of these forums, access rights to these forums, or any other part of these forums at any time.

To maintain a welcoming community while combating the ever-present threat of spam, new user accounts are limited in their ability to modify their accounts as well as moderated until becoming more active on the forums, by posting.
