Creating FTP accounts
I am having trouble creating an FTP account for a sub folder off Public_Html. When I enter login name the directory text box is automatically populated with
Public_Html/our_ domain_name/login_name. When I click create the account is created and a folder is created with the name of our domain under Public_Html with a sub folder named for the new account. What am I doing wrong?

Hello! To confirm, the FTP account cannot access the specific folder you created it for? When you say the box is populated, you mean the directory field when creating FTP accounts in cPanel? Can you delete "login_name" from this? 0 -

You should be able to edit that, what cPanel inserts automatically is just a suggestion.0 -
Thanks for the replies. Yes, I figured it out: deleting the login name and entering the sub folder worked. Another question: My new FTP user eventually wants to have three subfolders. Is there any way I can just create the folders and give his FTP account access to them or do I have to create new FTP accounts for each one? Thanks Again! 0 -
The FTP user has access to any subfolders in the root folder of the FTP account. If you create them make sure they have correct permissions. 0 -
I have created 4 more subfolders for my developer. 3 of them are working fine. The forth, which is identical except for specific content does not display in a brower. Additionally, when I view the sub folder with cPanel File Manager it is empty while if I log in with an FTP client using the developer's credentials I can see the content. The file permissions for each subfolder are the same. What could be wrong? 0 -
Are all 4 subfolders in public_html ? 0 -

Yes, all are in public_html0 -
This sounds like some type of permissions issue since you can only see the content with the specific credentials you mentioned. Can you check the permissions on the directory itself? 0 -
Thanks for the reply. I did not think to check the permissions of the folder before deleting it, just the files withen it, which were all the same as the working files. At any rate, I solved the problem by creating a new folder, transferring the files, deleting the old folder and renaming the new folder and all is well now. 0 -
I'm glad you came up with a solution! 0
