Some help on DNS Only please
I'm not understanding the setup of DNS Only servers.
I've installed it fine, but I think I'm confused on how it works. I searched cPanel docs, and YouTube in general and I can find nothing on how it works, only on how to install it.
For instance, lets say I want to have ns1....ns2@mydomain.com
1) Can the hostname of the server be host.mydomain.com or does it have to be ns1.mydomain.com?
2) Once the cluster has been setup, how can I tell what domains are being controlled by this nameserver? I expected some sort of edit DNS or other DNS controls, but there is nothing.
Any help really appreciated.
Thanks
Kerry

The hostname can be host.mydomain.com however the DNS only servers are not standalone ones i.e you also need a cPanel server to control the DNS records, you won't be able to manage DNS directly from the DNS only servers alone. 0 -
What @andrew.n said. To expand on that, DNSOnly servers are designed for just that - they only run the DNS tools required to serve zone records. Actual management of the zones, such as creating and editing, is done through a WHM server that is connected to the DNSOnly machine. To take advantage of the DNSOnly tools you'll want to setup a cluster. More details on that can be found here: 0
