I have bought a cPanel license when I bought a VPS package. Can I change Hosting and keep the license?

Hi, Like many of you I'm sure, I bought a one year cPanel license when buying a one year VPS package from a hosting provider. Now I want to ditch this hosting provider (they're bad). BUT: Can I keep the cPanel license I've paid for and use it on another hosting, until renewal? How is this done? Thanks for any advice you may have.

  What @kodeslogic said - you need to check with the license provider to see how it works with them. If you purchased the license directly from us, we have a guide on how you can update the licensed IP here:

  Thank you for your answers. Unfortunately, I have bought the license through the service provider. I haven't asked them yet, but I'm not too optimistic about this. How could they legally hold on to the license, though? I paid for this. Or is the external license somehow more expensive?

  Each of our Partners has a license agreement. While I can't provide legal advice, the license is often included as part of the hosting at a discount, so it can't be moved to other providers. I'd reach out to the host to get an official answer.
