so I was about to install ffmpeg and I went to /opt to create a directory ffmpeg and start my process. I just noticed ai-bolit for the first time. so I wanted to see what that is? but I don't have access ?
how can I as root not have access to things on my server???
I wish you would not install third party things on our server any longer.. give us the option when we do a fresh install to install it or not, like before there was a page that showed us different options that could get installed if we selected YES or we decided we don't want them so we said no. how do I Delete all this.. do not want ai-bolit alt app-version-detector cloudlinux imunify360 I don't want any of this on my server just cPanel that's it. looking at last year there was a cve vulnerability in ai-bolit.
[root@server1 opt]# dir

Hey hey! I wouldn't expect this to be present on a default cPanel server. In fact, /opt only has /opt/cpanel on the test machine I just examined, which was a fresh installation of version 102. Was this server possibly upgraded and downgraded from CloudLinux at one point? 0 -

@cPRex No sir. This was a new install of AlmaLinux 8.5 minimal then cPanel 102.0.10 then transferred back 2 domains from another server AlmaLinux8.5 and cPanel 102.0.10 with never having that stuff installed. So I assumed it got installed from cPanel installation seeing we have imunifyAV automatically getting installed on fresh installs. ? maybe an earlier version 102.0.9 vs .10 vs .11 ??0 -
Hmmmmmmmm - let me do some testing and see. 0 -
Yes, the directories stay, but get emptied. I did ask them about this and they said it was standard procedure for package handling. For example, if you uninstall the MySQL packages on the server, which are taken directly from the mysql repositories and not from cPanel or CloudLinux, the same behavior happens - software is removed, but directories are left in place. Could it be handled differently? Probably, but it sounds like there would need to be customizations made to that package different from all other packages just for that work. 0 -
