Hey there! Depending on the configuration you want, you may not need to do anything. This is just an informational message letting you know the DNS isn't managed on your machine, so any DNS changes (such as adding SPF or DKIM) on the local system would not matter. If you wanted to change this, you'd need to update the nameservers at the registrar to point to a local pair of nameservers.

Thank you, Rex. So if I understand clearly, I would update the registrar to point the nameservers assigned by my web host, is this correct?

No, that wouldn't work either, since the nameservers at your web host are also not local to the cPanel server. The best details on this can likely be found here:

So in addition to setting the nameserver at the registrar (for example Godaddy), to the one give by the web host, we need to do this: WHM >> Home >> Server Configuration >> Basic WebHost Manager Setup Then at the bottom enter the same web host assigned nameserver in WHM. Is this correct?

The option in the screenshot you included has no effect on if the DNS or nameservers work properly. It just tells cPanel what nameserver records to include in each new DNS zone that is created on the server. It is good to have them properly configured, though.

Perhaps the situation is that on a shared web host, the message shown in post #1 will occur. I understand the message can be ignored, but I think the wording should be changed. Currently it states: "Contact the person responsible for the ... and request that they update the records" This message appears there is a fault which needs to fixed.

That makes sense - I think we have an open case on that already, but let me check and I'll get back to you with more details soon.

I created case CPANEL-40801 to let our team know about that wording, so it's on the radar now. If I get an update on that on my end, I'll be sure to post.
