CPANEL-40934 - website.com says : Are you sure you want to save? The file will be overwritten.
Hi,
Everytime I try to edit a file through the cPanel file manager I get this warning :
Are you sure you want to save? The file will be overwritten.
The file is overwritten with the new change instead of just editing therefore I can't go back.
How to remove this warning and make it edit normally?
Thanks

Hey there! Can you walk me through the exact steps you are taking inside the File Manager interface, click by click, so I can reproduce this on my end? 0 -
This happened as soon as I updated to 104. Very annoying! 0 -
This is what happened after the last update, it's very annoying, anyone who knows the solution, please tell me, I'm editing files simultaneously. After this warning, ctrl+z doesn't work either, please urgently @admin 0 -

Ouch. Ctrl-Z always used to work even after 'saves' took place. I can confirm that it definitely does not work anymore though!0 -
The writeup in the 'report CPANEL-40934 ' is incorrect. In the past, pre 104, users could edit, save, edit, save, and undo all the way back to the beginning of the editing session. Now, when the file is saved, it appears that the editor page is actually refreshed - which blocks all undo operations. (Undo is only available BEFORE the user clicks save -- which is strange - because errors will only be noticed After the user clicks save - and therefore cannot be undone as of 104) Can you please update the ticket? 0 -
The case will fix that behavior as well as it's all related to that same issue. 0 -
I am having this exact same problem since updating my server to version 104.0.4. I've searched for a new setting to change in WHM and cPanel with no luck. Has a solution to this issue been found? 0 -
Update - this issue is resolved in version 104.0.5 which we are planning to release later today. 0 -
I have updated to the newest version and I am now able to undo past the saves but I am still getting the warning message. The weird thing is this is only happening with select cPanel accounts on the same server. Some work fine without the warning message. 0 -
@Kane_ - are you still seeing this issue on version 104.0.5? 0 -

We are still getting this popup upon file save: Are you sure you want to save? The file will be overwritten. I can still undo changes after selecting save, but we would prefer to disable this completely.0 -
Could you please submit a ticket to our team so we can check this? 0 -
@NodexHost - I did see that feature request and deleted it, since this is an issue with the File Manager tool that we're addressing through the case mentioned in this thread. 0 -

Why did you delete it? I was told to create a "feature request" in my support ticket. It's not an issue with the File Manager tool, it's a new popup that was implemented in v103/104 which users find frustrating.0 -
Let me look into this and I'll get back with you once I have more details. 0 -
I spoke with our developers and confirmed that this is in fact an issue with the tool. They have created case CPANEL-41131 to work on that issue directly, so no feature request is necessary, as requests are designed to add functionality but not for fixing actual issues. We'll get that taken care of! 0 -
I am on 104.0.6 and this is an issue with our server as well now. 0 -

But apparently it's not an issue, but an intended feature? Is there a way we could see the CPANEL-41131 case?0 -
@NodexHost - no, you were misinformed in the ticket. The title of the case is "File Manager's ACE Editor should not confirm intentional saves" but I don't have a way to share any other details. I'll be sure to update once that is resolved. 0 -

Excellent, thank you for the assistance.0 -
Hi @cPRex, this is still an issue. Do you have any updates on the ticket? 0 -
I don't at this time. The secondary case is CPANEL-41131 but I'm not seeing much activity on it just yet as the developers are still exploring solutions. 0 -

Could you add a keystroke to disable the "Do you want to SAVE" alert?0 -
I'm not sure how they plan to handle the change on the development side, but I'll post an update once I have one! 0 -
Agree with the others, this is extremely annoying everytime I save. Several times today I've been refreshing my browser thinking that code tweak doesn't work and find the stupid message again about it'll be overwritten. I find it odd the devs have to look for solutions when they added this! :-/ I use ftp for main devwork but filemanager for ongoing edits where I don't have a local copy. 0 -
I reached out to the team today and this is on their radar, but there's no fix yet. 0 -
I got this warning right now on a new account, freshly created. Served updated to version a day ago.... 108.0.11 Whats going on in the kitchen? No fix? 0 -
I've reached out to the team for an update and I'll be sure to post back soon! 0
