CPANEL-41138 - Allowing apostrophes in email addresses
I am trying to debug some code having to do with email addresses that have apostrophes in them, but when I go to create a test email in my cpanel I am getting the following error:
The username can only contain letters, numbers, periods, hyphens, and underscores.
According to RFC 3696, apostrophes are valid as the username portion of an email address:

Hey there! At this point, no, there's not a way to get those created in cPanel. I reached out to the email team, but being late in the afternoon on a Friday, it might be a bit before I hear back. I'll leave this thread marked as "new" so I can follow up next week. 0 -
Thanks for your patience on this one. We had some discussions this morning and our best guess is that older code was created to help stop MySQL-style code injections from happening on the email address input form. I've opened case CPANEL-41138 with our developers to see if we can get the user interface up to RFC standards, and I'll be sure to post more details as soon as I hear an update from the team. 0 -
