Move MariaDB
I currently have a web server running cPanel . Sites on that server use a remote database server running MariaDB 10.2 on CentOS 7.9. Due to a dwindling number of sites we host, I'd like to combine servers by moving MariaDB to my cPanel web server. I see there are already some MySQL Community 5.7 packages on the cPanel server. Should I remove those before I install MariaDB? Any "gotchas" I should look out for?

No, you can upgrade from MySQL 5.7 to MariaDB by simply logging in to WHM and on the left choose MySQL upgrade option. (MariaDB 10.2 is EOL fyi so I suggest you to install a more recent one) 0 -
Doesn't seem to be an option because I'm using a remote SQL server: "This system uses a remote server for MySQL/MariaDB. Perform the MySQL/MariaDB upgrade on the remote server." 0 -
You'd have to disconnect the remote database connection before performing any type of upgrade, then perform the upgrade, then migrate your data over to the cPanel machine. 0
