Change parked domain to primary without losing email accounts on parked domain
I've tried searching but I'm either finding VERY old information or things aren't exactly clear on doing this in the results I find.
I have a client who has an account where the primary domain has been let expire. The parked domain has all the email accounts and they want to make this the primary domain.
How do I make the parked domain the primary domain of the account without losing the email accounts and data?

Well, never mind. It was easier than I thought!! As a test, I created an account and parked a domain on it. I then created email on that parked domain. I then removed the parked domain and modified the account to change the primary domain to the parked domain and the email accounts were still there for the domain that was staying! I was under the impression that there were issues with this procedure but it worked seamlessly. 0 -
cPanel won't delete any emails when you change the primary domain name. Each domain has its own folder inside /home/username/etc (logins, filters and roundcube databases) and /home/username/mail (the actual emails). We've changed the primary domain for many clients without issues regarding email. 0 -

Thanks for confirming. The concern was that the data was there but the accounts would have to be recreated and nobody knows the passwords to do that so we were trying to prevent a support nightmare. :)0 -
I'm glad that worked well! 0
