cPanel & WHM update failure in upcp script

I had this update failure this morning, which brought down my sites/server for at least 5 minutes. Any idea why, and how to fix it?

    Hey there! This seems like an issue with Yum itself rather than cPanel. If you just run "yum update" do you also get a similar error?

    No, that ran just fine.

    Does a forced update with "/scripts/upcp --force" also work well now?

    Yes, it ran fine. Any idea why a routine auto-update would bring down my server? All the info I have about this is included in my first post.

    I wouldn't expect either of those issues to take a server offline. I'm wondering if something else glitched at the same time that actually caused those errors and also caused the outage, since both of those warnings are very minor issues related to the overall update.

    I can assure you that my server went down, to the minute, when this error was emailed to me via cPanel. My ping service also sent server down messages starting within 1 minute, and the total down time was at least 6 minutes.

    Oh I don't doubt the server went down, I just don't think these errors are the reason. I'm guessing something deeper happened at that time.
