Resolver.conf changing info request
Hi guys ,
thanks as always for your valuable help.
In my config i have 127.0.0.1, 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 (google you know) on resover.conf
In the documentation i found that:
[QUOTE]Important:
If you use a open DNS resolver (such as Google", CloudFlare" or OpenDNS"), Spamhaus and other public DNSBL servers may return a "not listed" (NXDOMAIN) message. Your system will fail to properly mark the site as a source of spam. If you use any blacklist in WHM"s must use an open DNS resolver, be aware that this issue may occur.
i request IPs to my provider. It is safe to change? this is a production server. do you think I might have some kind of problem? Thanks

Resolver addresses are only needed for outbound domain resolutions from your server. The priority is the resolver addresses of the datacenter you receive service from, if you know these resolver addresses, it is better to use them. If the data center does not provide a resolver service or these resolver addresses do not work properly, you can use 8.8.8.8 - 8.8.4.4 (google), 1.1.1.1 (cloudflare), 208.67.222.222 - 208.67.220.220 (opendns) addresses without any problems. 0 -
You won't see any issues when making the change, as long as you're using good resolvers that work. Using the ones provided by your datacenter is the best option if they can let you know those IP addresses. 0 -
Better to use ones provided by the data center, otherwise it will creates some issues on propagations. 0 -
thank you unfortunately those of OVH are unable to give me the addresses of the nameservers to use and I don't understand if they have not understood the question correctly or they do not know the subject. they gave me generic guides on how dns works for domains. They are treating me as an end user. if there is someone here with a dedicated ovh maybe he can help. meanwhile, on the domains section of OVH I found these nameservers that can be combined with domains: dns11.ovh.net ns11.ovh.net dns13.ovh.net ns13.ovh.net how do i know if i can use them in resolve.conf ? thank you 0 -
Nameservers are totally different thing, we have 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 in all servers and never had any problems with resolvers. 0 -
i am also running with google but in cpanel documentation is reccomended to use provider nameserver Important: If you use a open DNS resolver (such as Google", CloudFlare" or OpenDNS"), Spamhaus and other public DNSBL servers may return a "not listed" (NXDOMAIN) message. The key word is "may" return a message - you can still use the Google public resolvers and you may not experience any problems at all, but some users have reported an issue when using public resolvers. 0 -
