Suggestions on server migration
I had no issues with my test server migration from Centos 7 to Rocky linux 8.6. I waited a couple hours for domain to resolve to new IP address. I would like any suggestions to improve the process but here are the steps I took:
1. I let WHM automatically create a hostname on the new server
2. Uploaded EasyApache packages and matched my PHP from old server
3. Used Transfer Tool
4. Updated DNS settings with new IP address
5. Changed new server's hostname to old

Lower all the TTL's before you start so things migrate quicker. 0 -
Yes, I always lower the TTLs a few days before the migration, so the DNS propagation is quicker. If you control the DNS and have the hostname properly configured, you could also use Live Transfer to proxy the traffic to the new machine before the DNS points there. More details on that can be found here: Transfer Tool | cPanel & WHM Documentation 0 -
Thanks for the suggestions. I didn"t realize live transfer did that. 0 -
