Never Ending Cpanel Account Restore
#cPanel #WHM
Good evening everyone.
I'm having a problem with an account recovery from CPanel with WHM. I've used this procedure several times before, and never had a problem.
I accidentally deleted the public_html path of one of my users on CPanel, losing all the data of the sites on that path. Not having a backup of the public_html folder, I downloaded the data of all CPanel users from Amazon AWS.
As already done other times, I downloaded the tar.gz file and Uploaded it through the "Transfer and Restore of Cpanel" section, overwriting the data. The file weighs approximately 4GB compressed, approximately 10GB uncompressed. It's been almost 8 hours and the file is still in "Restore".
Are there any other ways to do this procedure? Can I somehow download only the public_html folder of the entire CPanel user? (I see it now, but it shows it as a simple link and I don't have its files inside).
Many thanks to anyone willing to help.

Hey there! The most critical thing to know is if there is a large amount of small files, such as email, on that account. It's possible, however unlikely, that it could just be taking a long time to restore. You can always download your backup to your local workstation and manually unzip the files there to just get the public_html data, and then upload that to the server. 0 -
Hi and thank u very much for the help. I noted that in my restore i had the experimental restricted restore enabled, i've disabled this featured and tried again, now is almost 3 hours but still there. Another thing, if i let the restore running and go to review transfer and restore section of the VHM i don't see any restore pending or doing, is it correct? Hey there! Btw, responding to you about this. Yes, i have a lot of little files and email accounts there. I've tried to unzip the homedir folder that contain public_html folder, but the public_html folder appear to me as "link" not a real folder. And i can't select all the wordpress files inside its, beacuse there is no folder, is correct or my backup is not valid? I have to upload all the homedir folder into the home path of the file manager? Thanks for help and sorry for my english and very low ability in Cpanel ahahah0 -
That sounds like the backup might not be valid. How is that backup being created? "Review Transfer and Restore" should show the active processes. 0 -

The backup is created with Amazon AWS connected with the WHM. I've used this method before and always worked. I've downloaded another user with the same backup configuration (its' very small, only 40MB), but there the public_html folder there is and is working. Here 2 screenshoot. I have the restore running, but nothing into the review.0 -
It sounds like there could be a broken link between www and public_html on that account, as those are usually linked together on the filesystem. Here is an example: lrwxrwxrwx 1 username username 11 May 15 2020 www -> public_html
You may want to see if the www directory exists and has your files instead.0 -

Yesterday i have deleted the public_html folder, and recreated it today, www folder too, but seems impossibile to me that even the older backup i have has this problem with the public_html folder and www as link. How can i run this code? Btw, another thing, if possibile. Trying to change the root password i thing that i have changed some setting. Before with the root accout i opened all the cpanel account, now i can't, how can i solve this? Sorry for bother u0 -
At this point it might be best to create a ticket with our support team, since it sounds like there could be multiple issues happening. Can you do that, and then post the number here so I can follow along? 0 -

Thank u. I opened the Ticket number #94522901. For now i set to not login to Server, if possibile is better to work like this.0 -
I see you enabled that and we are currently working to access the server. I'm following along with that ticket on my end now. 0
