Forwarded virtual email settings

I have a 'Email Account Forwarders' email address that has no mail storage on cPanel, its just an address where all mail to that address is forwarded to a user's Gmail address. Is it possible the user can set up an iPhone to receive and send using this email address? I'm not sure what's possible given its some form of redirect.

  A forwarder is just a rule for the mailserver, it has neither mail box storage nor credentials to authenticate you for sending mail. I assume you were thinking of something like this? - using your free Gmail account to send from a different alias (your Cpanel forwarder address) :

  Thanks @xpy-xpy I understand its fairly lightweight and your reply quickly clarifies it for me. We do a lot of this on desktop Gmail as users just want one mail app to do everything but I was unsure on where to start on an iPhone. I'll do a search for Gmail alias on an iPhone for tips. Might be better to set up a test one for myself to see what works and doesn't. Its going to be clunky whatever we do.
