LMTP error User doesn't exist
Hi,
Just done a fresh install on cPanel and I've always been a big DA Fan, but I thought i'd give this a try! HOWEVER, I am having mail issues...
This is a completely fresh install and I get this issue.
LMTP error after RCPT TO:: 550 5.1.1 User doesn't exist: chris@SERVER.HOSTNAME.COM
The email was sent to chris@domain.com
I cannot, for the life of me, figure this out!
Can someone point me in the correct direction? I have checked "whoowns"
[root@server home]# /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/whoowns domain
chris

It is trying to deliver the mail to USERNAME@SERVER HOSTNAME and gives an error that the user doesnt exist 0 -
Hey there! Can you let me know what specifically is triggering that failure message, and where you're getting those? Once I know that I can likely provide you with better details. 0 -

Hey! Thanks for the reply! I have installed AlmaLinux as a fresh OS, and installed cPanel however when sending myself an email from another server (in this instance, gmail) I get the error that the user is not found however for example my domain is EarthWorm.com and my hostname is server.EarthWorm.com it says chris@server.earthworm.com doesnt exist. I have just installed centOS and i am trying to see if this is replicated. However, I did install AlmaLinux 3 times and had the same issue each time weirdly!0 -
Just to confirm, you're sending the message from the new cPanel server(s) to an external account, correct? Are both email addresses uses the same earthworm domain? 0 -
Having the same issue on CentOS LMTP error after RCPT TO:: 550 5.1.1 User doesn't exist: chris@server.domain.net 0 -

I am sending an email from a gmail, to my new cpanel server. However this happens for every email that my domain receives.0 -
I currently don't see any MX records in place, which is what is used to handle email, for the earthworm.com domain. Without those records in the DNS, you won't be able to receive email. 0 -

I used that domain as an example however my domain does have MX Records and the server is rejecting the mail saying "User doesn't exist".0 -
Ah, I wasn't sure if that was an example domain or not. If the cPanel license is purchased through us, it's time to create a ticket so we can examine the system and see what the issue may be. 0 -

I am currently using trial licence, I am unsure if I can still make this ticket?0 -

I have tried to reinstall AlmaLinux because ultimately thats what I want to be using however, I now get this error; The cPanel license server replied that the license has been activated on too many machines (600). Please contact billing@cpanel.net The exact message was: The license has been activated too many times on different machines. (********)0 -

94537023 ticket id for now, I need to sort the licence first.0 -
Yes, if you perform too many reinstalls our license system will detect that as potentially fraudulent activity and lock the license. I see our Customer Service team was able to get that sorted out, so let me know if you're able to submit another ticket for the main issue. 0 -

I"m having the same issue. I tried with a trial license and tried to install cpanel under Almalinux several times without success (I had always an error). Finally from the datacenter apparently installed all fine, but now the license is locked. I"ve leave a ticket more of 1 hour ago.. and nobody answered yet and do something SIMPLE. My ticketID is #95099965 Guys,, you are selling the more expensive panel in the market (excessive price, more expensive than many dedicated servers and increasing the insane cost of your panel continuosly) and your support speed is very very very poor. I need to migrate many sites from one datacenter to this one and I"m stopped waiting someone unlock the license. Come on!!! can you be a little bit faster ??0 -
@planetjoin - the ticket was submitted at 3:53 and resolved at 5:24, which is exactly 1.5 hours during the overnight shift. That seems like a reasonable time frame to me. I also don't see that the cPanel license was purchased through us, so questions about the license should be directed to your hosting provider, Hetzner. 0 -

Thanks for your answer. i though was during working hours..(from 6 AM to 6 PM, Central Time, and the ticket was sent at 9:00 AM CT).. but THANKS. Regarding the other thing you said.. From Hetzner answered me yesterday : "Dear Fabian, this is an issue that only cPanel itself can fix. That's why you need to contact: billing@cpanel.net in this case and ask for a solution. We cannot handle these cases unfortunately. It seems your IP needs to get whitelisted again." THanks Fabian0 -
As a license provider, they shouldn't be placing issues with the license on you, the customer, but they should be reaching out to us directly to get those fixed. 0
