How to use exim with smarthost, but fall back to default settings if the smarthost is not available?
The default exim installation works good, but the requirement is to use the company mail server as the relay. If that server become unavailable the messages stuck in the exim queue.
Can I configure exim somehow in a way that it would use the default routing, the one that would work if the smarthost would not exist, when the smarthost is not responding or fails to deliver messages?
Kind Regards,
Andrii

Hey there! It doesn't look like there is a good way to do this. I looked through some Exim documentation, and even many years ago people were writing custom scripts to detect the smarthost activity, and then change the Exim configuration back to "normal" Regards, Andrii

Thanks so much! I've approved that, and I'll talk to the team next week. 0
