Reported MySQL Version
Via WHM :: Security Center :: Security Advisor, I see this:
You are using MySQL 5.7 server. This version is not available for AlmaLinux 8. You first need to update your MySQL server to 8.0 or later. You can update to version 8.0 using the following command: /usr/local/cpanel/bin/whmapi1 start_background_mysql_upgrade version=8.0 Once the MySQL upgrade is finished, you can then retry to elevate to AlmaLinux 8.
I updated to 8.0.32 awhile back. When I execute mysql -V, I see the following:
mysql Ver 8.0.32 for Linux on x86_64 (MySQL Community Server - GPL)
-
If you go to MySQL/MariaDB upgrade then what you see there? 0 -
8.0.32 0 -

Do you see any mysql5.7 packages when you run the following command on the server? rpm -qa | grep -i mysql0 -
Does not appear so: mysql-community-common-8.0.32-1.el7.x86_64 mysql-community-icu-data-files-8.0.32-1.el7.x86_64 mysql-community-libs-compat-8.0.32-1.el7.x86_64 cpanel-perl-536-mysql-diff-0.60-1.cp108~el7.noarch alt-php-internal-mysqlnd-7.4.33-2.el7.x86_64 mysql-community-client-plugins-8.0.32-1.el7.x86_64 ea-php74-php-mysqlnd-7.4.33-3.3.5.cpanel.x86_64 mysql-community-client-8.0.32-1.el7.x86_64 cpanel-perl-536-dbd-mysql-4.050-1.cp108~el7.x86_64 cpanel-ng-cpanel-paper.lantern-mysql-manager-108.16.1-1.cp11108.noarch ea-php81-php-mysqlnd-8.1.16-1.1.2.cpanel.x86_64 mysql-community-devel-8.0.32-1.el7.x86_64 mysql80-community-release-el7-7.noarch mysql-community-libs-8.0.32-1.el7.x86_64 cpanel-ng-cpanel-jupiter-mysql-manager-108.16.2-1.cp11108.noarch ea-php80-php-mysqlnd-8.0.28-1.1.2.cpanel.x86_64 mysql-community-server-8.0.32-1.el7.x86_64 0 -
Thanks for checking that. I can't find any similar reports of this behavior, so it would likely be best to create a ticket with our team so we can look into this on our end. 0 -
Will do, thanks! 0 -
If you are able to do that, please post the ticket number here so I can follow along! 0 -

Thanks for that - I'm following along with that ticket now. 0 -
cPanel was able to fix: I have looked at your server and found that output was coming from the elevate script that was performing checks to see if your environment would be ok to elevate the OS if needed. One of the cPanel configuration files was still reporting MySQL 5.7 while the system was updated to 8.0. Based on what I can find, I can subject a last minor change that did not happen when a Mysql was completed on November 17th. I have updated the file, and that issue has gone away. 0 -
Specifically, the /var/cpanel/cpanel.config file still had the older version listed. I'm glad we were able to help! 0
