CPANEL-42629 - Jupiter left hand column - add and remove
What makes stuff appear in the left column of Jupiter? Initially there is the Tools menu, which is a "home" link of sorts. But I can see that some plugins, like Softaculous, can insert themselves there. How is this configured? Can we add what we want there, and how?

Hey hey! I reached out to the user interface team about this issue and I have a few thoughts. We do have some longer-term plans for making that sidebar more useful. There has been a lot of feedback about how much space it takes up, especially on smaller screens, so either utilizing it, making it minimize, or making it easier to customize (or even some combination of those) is eventually going to happen. There isn't a supported way to modify it at this time. Softaculous is doing this by directly editing /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/jupiter/core/partials/main_menu_nav_items.html.tt, and then ensuring their customizations are placed back after each upcp is run. 0 -
That"s good news and info, thanks! 0 -
Thanks for that graphic - that's exactly what I needed to see. There is not a way to remove the "Give Feedback" link at this time. Yes, all domains are handled under the cPanel >> Domains tab now. The only different is the document root you create for them. I don't have a way to hide that Horde message at this time, although we're working an adding an option for that soon. 0 -
Is there a particular reason you'd like to remove the "Give Feedback" button? Is it causing problems or confusion for users? That link goes directly to a cPanel survey, so it shouldn't add any support burden for providers.
Well, for us using a language other than English, it simply makes no sense to include this. Removing confusion for customers is one of our priorities. And while I understand your point of view, anything that distracts the client from the task at hand or that causes them to wonder what is it for, ends up adding support burden for providers.0 -
That all makes sense to me - I've created case CPANEL-42629 with our UI team and I've made them aware directly as well. I'll let you know if get any updates on that case here. 0 -
You're very welcome! 0 -
I don't have any updates from the developers on this case just yet. 0 -
Just to add something here since we talk about the sidebar :) If we disable WP toolkit and softaculous is just empty and distracting. Give us an option to add quick links like email, files, database...etc or if we can disable the sidebar and have the logo on the top like it was in the previous themes. I think it will look cleaner and less distracting without sidebar tbh. 0 -
@businezz - as far as I'm aware, that's the long-term plan! 0
