Unable to update from mysql to mariadb

Hi, i have install a cpanel on new server and want to move on mariadb but whm showing only one option MySQL 8.0. It is not showing other version of mysql and mariadb. How can i move on mariadb?

  It would prob. be helpful to know what OS you are on and version of MySQL.

  We consider moving from MySQL 8 to MariaDB a downgrade, so you likely don't have that option. If you need to use MariaDB on a new machine, you'll want to follow the details here:

  Almalinux 8 and mysql 8.0. Only showing 8.0 mysql version.

  @retechpro - that is normal behavior on AlmaLinux 8.

  I have added version name in root/cpanel_profile/cpanel.config but still it is not showing in cpanel. Only mysql using in cpanel upgrade option. Mariadb not showing In article, it"s written run the installer as you normally would. What does it mean.

  That file is used by the installer to determine the version of MySQL to install. You'd have to re-install:

  • Re-install the OS
  • Create the file
  • Re-run the installer
