Detected services that are running outdated executables
We have started getting the following daily email from cpanel:
Detected 7 services that are running outdated executables: lfd.service MailScanner.service cxswatch.service osmd.service crond.service cpanellogd.service queueprocd.service
So we run:
systemctl restart lfd.service MailScanner.service cxswatch.service osmd.service crond.service cpanellogd.service queueprocd.service
All above services restart, then we run:
/scripts/find_outdated_services
But we still get:
This system is receiving updates from CloudLinux Network server.
0 files removed
The system found 7 outdated services:
lfd
queueprocd
crond
osmd
cpanellogd
MailScanner
cxswatch
Would you like to restart these services? [y/n]: y

So its stuck in a loop? The services get restarted but the 'find outdated scripts' still lists them as outdated.

I've seen the same on servers we have cPanel updates set to manual. On servers we have set for auto updates, no issues, so it does seem cPanel update related. 0 -
Hey there! Just to confirm, you don't get any errors when running the find_outdated_services command, but it just continues to report the same 7 services needing a restart, correct? If so, that doesn't sound like behavior I've seen and we would likely need to see a ticket on this to do more investigation if you aren't finding anything in the cPanel logs that gives more detail. 0 -
Well the cpanel error log does mention some services (from configserver) it says are "unknown" but none the less restarting them doesn't fix it. That's definitely odd - could you make a ticket for this one so we can check it out? 0 -
Its been about 10 months since we last rebooted this server ( it has Kernelcare installed ) so we decided to do a graceful reboot. We then ran /scripts/find_outdated_services and this time it didn't find any outdated services. Go figure! 0 -
Interesting, but I'm glad that took care of it! 0
