  Have you verified that the resolvers are working correctly on the server?

  This does indeed sound like a DNS or resolver issue if you aren't able to contact the default mirrors.

  My server also failed to update last night with a similar error, resulting in all websites being down. A reboot of the server got everything back up and running.
