Hostname SSL and webmail
Recently had someone move off a server to a new host, but the account is still active while they migrate. The domain already points off to another provider, but they reached out to say they needed to complete a mail migration since some of their users failed to act in time. I explained they could still find the webmail login via "hostname.tld/webmail".
This worked fine for me, bringing me to the login where I could put in the user email and pass.
Here's where it goes sideways.
Some users, and SSL testing tools give an expired certificate warning, claiming the cert expired a few years ago. I checked another server, and it does that same thing. The cert is claimed to be from Sectigo, but at the time I was using a RapidSSL cert from Comodo. Very odd.
Cpanel servers, using Cpanel generated SSL. Current cert in use and installed on services expires in February of 2024. I have the redirect to hostname set in tweak settings, which I suspect has something to do with this. Any thoughts on where to look would be appreciated.

Answering my own question here. For an unknown reason the old cert in question had been installed in Apache instead of root, so it looks like the updated hostname cert was being overridden in some way by the old one. Simple matter of visiting manage SSL hosts, finding the bad cert and removing it. On subsequent checks, it's no longer seeing the old one, instead the new and valid one. Solved. 0 -
I'm glad you were able to track that down and get things working well! 0
