Managed VPS
Hi i'm using WHM on a VPS that is managed.
I'm having some major issues on it every 7 days. June 1 - June 7 and June 14 (just started)
My server is 6 years old
OS
CentOS v7.9.2009 STANDARD virtuozzo
cPanel Version
110.0.7
My server load going from a steady .2-.5 to 1.2-2.0 - so my load times on my website when I do work on the go from 1 to 2 sec to over 20 sec to load or save something
The only thing that I run on my VPS is my client Joomla and WP site.
- No cron jobs
- I have Backup Manger on all of my CP account that backup every 2 days
- All of my site have Akeeba Admin Tools and Akeeba Backup
- Running Yootheme on 90% of my sites and one is running elementor and some older site are other themes
I'm running on 90% php 8.0 and a coule have to be on php 7 due to older WP and Joomla
My hosting company told me that it was my PHP-FPM that are not set correclty we were using the default
Max Requests 20
Max Children 5
Process Idle Timeout 10
We have turned it up to
Max Requests 128
Max Children 75
Process Idle Timeout 10
But after they did this the server load was still high for 24 hours then after that it DROP like nothing happened. But then it did it again on june 7 and then again on june 14.
So i'm not sure if that is the case or not? As it now has a pattern
Any clues that I could share with my hosting company - that they didn't think of
Or it could be an actual cPanel Account that is doing all of this every 7 days, but they have yet come back to me with that proof.
Thanks - if you need more info please ask -

Hey there! If something is happening every 7 days, it would seem to indicate a cron job of some type is being triggered and causing the increased server usage. Do you see any crons configured on the system? 0 -
I went though all of my CP and no jobs at all - I thought of that yesturday 0 -
It's also possible that on a VPS there are issues with the parent server causing this, although that's nearly impossible to track down. Have you noticed that the load relates to a certain domain or account or database? 0 -
I'm not really sure how to figure out what domain or account or db that are doing this - they give me some stats but the ones they tell me are all update versions and plugins are update If its " VPS there are issues with the parent server causing this, although that's nearly impossible to track down " that would be interesting Just not sure what to do now - as they went to there tier 2 on june 7 and did the php-fmp and now we are back to the same issue a week later Just asking if you turn up the Max Requests 20 Max Children 5 Process Idle Timeout 10 We have turned it up to Max Requests 128 Max Children 75 Process Idle Timeout 10 Is there a PROPAGATION time like a Name Server update or would that be INSTANT when you change the settings 0 -
Ok thanks So now I have to leave it up to my hosting provider? does cPanel offer any paid support? 0 -
If you have root access we're always happy to take a look, but we can only help point you in the right direction. If something is wrong with cPanel itself, we'll fix it, but if we find that the cPanel tools are working normally, we aren't able to fix software that isn't ours. 0 -
I have access to the ROOT WHM is that what is required 0 -
Yes, that's correct. We need full root access on our end to troubleshoot an issue over a ticket. 0 -
Thanks found the SUPPORT in WHM Root and made a ticket up 0 -
If you could post the ticket number here I can follow along with that on my end. 0 -
