Can't access via SSH or cPanel. My user/password changed?
Hi cPanel,
I'm new to this world and I'm having some problems (expected).
I was working on WHM and I was trying to configure my domain.
I set up my hostname, hostname.mydomain.com
I got tired and I closed the window.
Now I can't access to my WHM account or even SSH.
On SHM I get "Login is invalid"
On SSH: Permission denied.
Is it possible that my username changed? Or how could even the password have been changed?
When I visit: IP:2087, it gets redirected to hostname.mydomain.com (Which doesn't work)
But I can see the WHM login form in myvps.vps.ovh.ca:2087
I think I can change the VPS password on OVH Panel, but I would like to know what's going on here, and learn.
Thank you so much for your time helping me!

Hey there! It sounds like when you configured the hostname, the DNS wasn't in place which is why that redirect isn't working. If the password isn't working in SSH either it could be that it has changed, or it could be that password access to SSH is restricted and you need to use a key. The best thing to do would be to reset the password through your hosting provider's panel and then see if you can access things normally. 0 -
I really appreciate your time to answer me! I'm going to reply for future people who could experience this problem. The problem was that my domain wasn't pointing to the dns/IP. Now I can access via: hostname.mydomain.com:2087 with the root and password, so it the password didn't change. Thanks so much! 0 -
I'm glad you were able to track down that DNS issue! 0
