RoundCube CardDAV contacts
I have a website and email on a shared server ran by NameCheap that has recently had cPanel upgraded.
For contacts I now have a "Personal Addresses" group and a ""cPanel CardDAV (addressbook)" group in RoundCube.
I used to use Horde so that I could access contacts on my phone via CardDAV, but now I need to use the CardDAV group in RoundCube for this purpose.
I have noticed that the performance of anything to do with the CardDAV group is VERY slow. Something that takes 1 second on the Personal group (like deleting 20 contacts or importing 20 contacts) can take 5 minutes on the CardDAV group.
I was wondering if this performance difference is something that everyone experiences on their installations - or is this a technical issue with the NameCheap implementation?
In addition I have noticed that there seems to be a difference in the fields supported in the two addressbooks. When I import the same vCard file into these two groups I have noticed that the Birthday field and the Notes field import correctly into the Personal group, but are not imported into the CardDAV group. Is there a difference in the fields supported?
Any information on either of these issues would be most appreciated.

Further to this it would seem that the "CardDAV" group does NOT support importing the following fields that can be exported from the "Personal" group (even though they can all be created by editing a contact in this group):
BDAY
NOTE
X-GENDER
X-MAIDENNAME
X-ASSISTANT
X-MANAGER
X-SPOUSE
X-ANNIVERSARY
In addition the presence of the "X-DEPARTMENT" field causes the import to crash.
Is the import feature part of the standard cPanel functionality? Is this a bug?

Hey there! The fields are likely different between the two systems, so that is to be expected. I haven't heard of any performance problems like the one you're seeing, so it would be worth reaching out to NameCheap to see what they have to say, as they'll likely need to investigate things on their end. 0 -
The thing is that the fields are supported as they can be populated if you edit a contact - it just seems to be the import that is missing them out. 0 -
Interesting - it might be best to submit a ticket to our team so we can see that in action and determine if the export/import process could be improved. 0
